Caregiver Support Group

caregiverAre you the caregiver for a loved one and feeling isolated, stressed or anxious, frustrated and sad because of the changes you observe in the person you love? If so, please consider joining the CNT Caregiver Support Group. This will be an opportunity to share common experiences and glean new ideas from “people who walk in your shoes.”

This effort is a direct outcome of the requests of caregivers who attended the Elder Care Academy at Congregation Ner Tamid. The Academy was a collaboration between the Congregation and Nevadans for the Common Good. The group will be limited to 15 participants and will be facilitated by Jennifer Cohen, RN. There is no charge to participate in the group.

The class meets the 2nd Thursday of each month. Please call the Temple office at 702-733-6292 for details.

Lifelong Learning

Throughout the year we offer many opportunities for adults to engage in learning. From our weekly Torah Study and The Tanakh Revisited class, to our scholar-in-residence weekends, or the CNT Cinema Connections movies or the Short Story Book Club -- we have classes and speakers for all levels of learners. Our successful summer series offers "one-shot" interesting topics on a variety of Jewish subjects. We also offer beginning Hebrew for adults and look to expand this program in the future. Our Adult B'nai Mitzvah program provides a chance for adults who have never had a Bar/Bat Mitzvah to study together in preparation for their service.

Our "101" classes (Judaism 101, Chanukah 101, etc.) offer the beginner a better understanding of Jewish history, observance and theology.

For those who are just exploring Judaism for the first time, we have "A Taste of Judaism," this series of 3 classes is meant to open the doors to our tradition. For those who are seeking more and are eager to learn, we offer an 8-week Introduction to Judaism course, and a weekly Conversion class.

One of the fundamental ways our children learn is from observing what their parents, grandparents and other role models do. Participation in adult Jewish learning sends an ongoing, important message to younger generations that continued growth and development of our Jewish knowledge is a priority. Come be a part of that message. Your participation and attendance in adult Jewish programs and events is sincerely encouraged. Together we will engage in learning and fulfill our commitment to the advancement of our Jewish-selves. You never know what you might learn!

Lifelong Jewish Learning is alive and well at Congregation Ner Tamid.

For more information on the Adult Education classes offered please contact the Temple office at (702) 733-6292.
